At Fast Pace Health, we know that illnesses and accidents can occur at any time, night or day. That is why we staff a team of highly qualified health providers and professionals to help offer fast, compassionate, and cost-effective care for you and your family. Our Covington, TN walk-in urgent care clinic is conveniently located on U.S. 51 South.
Urgent care clinics make great options for those who don’t have time to wait. We strive to make our urgent care clinics accessible for all. They also provide a great alternative to primary care appointments that are days, even weeks away.
In addition to those long waits, most primary care offices offer no after-hours care for those late-night illnesses and injuries.
Then there is the issue of those long hospital emergency department waits. Urgent care provides a solution for these as well.
Often, hospital emergency rooms are short-staffed and stretched thin. Urgent care clinics help lessen this load for these busy emergency departments by providing an alternative to help treat those minor scrapes and mild illnesses.
Urgent care clinics provide an alternative to hospital emergency room departments. There is one key difference between urgent care and ERs — i.e. triage of patients.Hospital emergency room departments are not set up as a first-come, first-serve type of care.
Emergency room departments treat patients based on the severity of injury or illness. What can this mean for you? It could mean you’re stuck in the ER for hours. As compared to 15 minutes at most of our urgent care centers.
While the injury or illness may certainly be an emergency for you or your family member, it could be put at the back of the line in the emergency room. But this is where urgent care centers earn their keep, it is first-come, first-serve.
Emergency room departments do have more access to more screening exams (e.g. CT scans), but these can take hours, even days, to receive.
Reasons to visit the ER include the following:
In many cases, hospital emergency room departments are much more costly than urgent care clinics. This can take quite a toll on your pocketbook. Thankfully, Fast Pace Health accepts most private insurance plans. We also offer self-pay options for those without insurance.
Our urgent care centers are staffed with highly-trained healthcare providers that are equipped to handle all sorts of injuries and illnesses. Let’s take a look at some of the most common conditions that could bring you to our Covington location.
Our team is trained to handle your basic broken bones, scrapes, cuts, bumps, bruises, and even burns. Minor scrapes and cuts are a normal part of life.
In many cases, these minor injuries don’t require an expensive trip to the ER. Urgent care clinics can handle bandaging, stitches, and more.
What about those bumps to the head during football practice? Yep, our urgent care clinics are equipped to access those as well.
It is important to note that the severity of the injury does matter. Injuries like severe lacerations, amputations, and compound fractures require immediate medical attention.
Urgent care clinics are also set up to handle cases of mild burns. These include 1st degree and second-degree burns. Minor burns refer to first-degree burns anywhere on the body or second-degree burns less than two or three inches in circumference.
While hospital emergency room departments have traditionally been the place to seek care for minor burns, scrapes and cuts, and broken bones, urgent care centers can help relieve that burden from busy ER departments.
Some of the most common reasons for ER visits include infections like pink eye, various STDs, and urinary tract infections (UTI). Also, ear infections are one of the top reasons for pediatric ER visits.
In most cases, these types of infections are completely treatable — however, waiting for care to treat these infections can lead to some rough days.
But don’t worry, we have you covered, especially when those emergency departments are full or your primary care appointment is too far away.
Strep throat is a common reason for sore throat complaints, it’s also a common reason for primary care visits. It involves a sore, scratchy throat, pain in swallowing, and swollen lymph nodes and tonsils. Not a recipe for a good day.
The good news is, strep throat isn’t too serious if treated quickly, and most cases are effectively treated with antibiotics.
What about those tiring days of endless sneezing? Allergies are another common medical condition. Seasonal allergies are marked by itchy, watery eyes, nasal congestion, and empty tissue boxes.
Thankfully, our urgent care clinics are set up to handle most mild to moderate allergic reactions. However, a serious allergic reaction known as anaphylaxis requires immediate emergency medical attention.
Every year people are plagued with stomach viruses, food poisoning, and other medical conditions that can cause the dreaded nausea and vomiting. The reasons for this dynamic duo can be many, but, our urgent cares are here to help.
If your symptoms last more than 24 hours and you find yourself unable to hold down liquid or food, then it’s time to come see us.
Our medical professionals can help diagnose and treat symptoms of nausea and vomiting, including IV fluids and prescription anti-nausea medications.
The injuries and illnesses above are just some of the medical conditions that bring folks into our urgent care centers. Some other reasons for visiting our urgent care include, but are not limited to:
